Here’s a quick checklist to get you wax-ready:
- Let your hair grow out a bit, aiming for grain-of-rice length.
- Give the area a gentle exfoliation in the shower a couple of times before your session. It’ll help
with those pesky ingrown hairs - Got any skin issues like rashes or sunburn? Best to let them heal first.
- Opt for comfy, loose clothes for post-wax comfort.
- And, of course, come fresh and clean! See you soon!
Feeling a bit tender or seeing some redness? Totally normal, especially if you’re a waxing
newbie. It’ll chill out in a day or two. Here’s a quick guide to keep things smooth:
Skip These for 24-48 Hours:
- Scalding showers or saunas- lukewarm is your friend.
- Sunbathing or tanning sessions.
- Intense workouts or swimming.
- Scratching the freshly waxed zone.
- Getting intimate after an intimate wax.
- Spritzing deodorants, lotions, or makeup on the waxed area.
Do These Instead:
- Rock those comfy, loose clothes.
- Pat dry with a fresh towel post-shower.
- A dab of antiseptic cream or light oil can be soothing.
- Sunblock is a must for waxed areas if you’re stepping out.
Avoiding Ingrown Hairs:
A few days post-wax, start gentle exfoliation up to thrice a week. Keep the area moisturized daily.
Noticed some early regrowth? It’s normal in the beginning. For best results, come back every 4-6
weeks and avoid shaving in between. Stay smooth!
Kudos for diving into the world of waxing!
Here’s a quick guide on what’s happening
Hair Growth 101:
Your hair grows in three stages:
- Anagen- When it’s attached to the blood supply.
- Catagen- When it’s detaching from the blood supply.
- Telogen- When it’s fully detached.
Seeing tiny red spots? That’s just hair in the Anagen phase saying goodbye. Totally normal!
Post-Wax Surprises:
You might spot a few stray hairs popping up a few days post-wax. That’s because not all hair
grows at the same pace. After a few sessions, they’ll get in sync, giving you smoother results for
longer.
Skin Reactions:
First-timers might see some red bumps or rashes. It’s just your skin’s way of saying, “What just
happened?!” An antiseptic cream can help. If it lasts more than a week, check in with a
pharmacist or GP.
With each session, your skin will become a waxing pro, and reactions will lessen. So, relax and
enjoy the smooth journey!
Holiday vibes? Awesome!
If you’re a waxing regular, aim to get waxed about a week before you jet off. This gives any
redness or sensitivity time to settle.
First-time waxer? It’s best to have 2-3 sessions before your trip. This way, you ensure your skin
is vacation-ready and free from any unexpected reactions.
So, pack that swimsuit and enjoy your smooth getaway!
